I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
What does God require from sinners? Confessions, repentance and to ask for forgiveness. Christ also taught us to ask for forgiveness (Matthew 6:12), it is therefore safe to pray for forgiveness.
When you find out that you have fallen short of God’s glory, you can return to the throne of grace and obtain mercy. His righteousness is bigger than anyone’s inequity, He will have compassion.
Talk to God: Father, I thank you for your everlasting mercy, help me never to take it for granted, amen.
