The Furnace of Affliction

2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;”

We continue to examine a rather ‘rare’ and likely unpalatable part of God’s making. Every vessel of God is tried by fire, not just fire, a furnace, and of affliction at that, how horrific that could sound, but God would not skip any process when working on His vessel.

No silversmith would allow the silver be destroyed in the furnace. God does not just watch over you, He goes through the fire with you (see Isaiah 43:2 and consider Daniel 3:13-18). You can only begin to drown (as Peter) when you look unto the storm, rather than the Author and Finisher of your faith.

Talk to God: Father, I key into your promises to see me through, help me not to falter in Jesus’ name, amen.
