Philippians 3:8 “Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,”

Self denial takes a lot of discipline, it could very well mean letting go all that one cherishes for just one thing, such as we see in this opening text. Self denial could also be seen as accepting avoidable loss for a greater value.

You could have at a time or the other sacrificed something valuable to you, time, money, ego and the likes, doing away with them so you could achieve something more. The invaluable you have been called to seek after is the knowledge of Christ, the Way to eternity. No greater treasure.

Talk to God: Father, help me to deny myself, carry my cross and follow you everyday in Jesus’ name, amen.
