Matthew 16:24 “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
A disciple follows and imitates a teacher or master. Today’s text shows that anyone who wants to be Christ’s disciple needs a cross.
The cross is a disciple’s identity. It is a portion taken after the likeness of Christ, our chief discipler. If you want to follow Jesus, you will have to carry a cross, tailor to your own life. Will you take it up?
